Enid’s Reads – The Last Hour by Charles Sheehan-Miles

the last hour blurb and cover

Beth’s Review – 5 Hearts:

Charles is an amazing writer.  He brought me in and made me part of the Thompson family.  This book shows us the love between Carrie and Ray. It is romantic, dramatic, heart warming and heart breaking.  It is love.  What the two characters go through is unbelievable and through it all they fight for love.

I have never experienced what they have to go through. Charles opened my eyes to a new world and it was touching and heart breaking.  It made me appreciate the life I have and understand that you never know what other people you encounter carry on their shoulders.

This is a MUST READ with a box of tissues.

Enid’s Reads – A Song for Julia by Charles Sheehan-Miles

a song for julia cover

Beth’s Review – 5 HEARTS:

I once again am honored to be writing a review for Charles Sheehan-Miles.  He is a wonderful writer and I enjoy every minute I’m reading one of his romance books.  His characters are well developed and the way he folds and blends the past and present together is stunning.

In A Song for Julia we get to hear the story of Julia and Crank (yes that is his real name).  We catch a glimpse of them in Just Remember to Breathe but now we know the whole story.  Now we know the hardship Julia faced being the oldest Thompson daughter.  We see how people can come from two different walks of life and each carry heavy baggage from their younger days.  The love story that unfolds as the past mixes and messes with the present happiness is beautiful and touching.

The best part is finding out the true meaning of home.  Home is where the people you love are.  We get to see what home means to Julia and Crank and the healing that is needed between them and their families for them to find that home.

The story is heart-wrenching and heart-warming as it unfolds but the true love that comes at the end finishes off the story like a nice glass of wine at the end of a long day.  I look forward to reading more by Mr. Sheehan-Miles.

Enid’s Reads – Just Remember to Breathe by Charles Sheehan-Miles

just remember to breathe cover

Beth’s Review – 5 HEARTS:

Just Remember to Breathe is a roller coaster love story as you follow two teenagers who grow apart, grow up and find out what they really want in life.  It all starts on a student trip to Israel where Dylan and Alex fall in love, but will it be enough to cover the distance between them.   After high school Alex goes to Columbia and Dylan joins the Army.  When Dylan is shipped off to Afghanistan the distance is even greater.   Alex isn’t sure she can be there for him anymore and Dylan can’t handle it.  He comes back from Afghanistan with a broken heart and a broken body.

When Dylan is offered a scholarship to Columbia he wonders if he will see Alex again and he’s not sure if that is something he wants.  Not only does he run into her, they end up working together.  Alex is surprised to see the man he has become and Dylan is afraid to let her get too close.

Most of the time men feel they have to be the strong ones but what happens when they can’t be?  Sometimes it’s hard to ask for help.  Sometimes it’s hard to ask for forgiveness. But when Dylan realizes he has to do just that to grow up and finally find happiness, it’s hard for him to accept.  Alex, being a fantastically strong character, is up for the challenge.  Now, Dylan just needs to let her in.

From the highs of falling in love to the lows of war and heartbreak and then back up to the highs of redemption, Charles Sheehan-Miles takes you on a ride you don’t want to get off until the very end.

Enid’s Reads – Paris Love Match

ParisLoveMatch BN Kobo

Getting a taxi in Paris can be hell.

Piers Chapman expected a boring business trip to Paris.

What he didn’t expect was to fight over a cab with a beautiful girl.

After a bad meeting, Sidney Roux just wanted to hail a cab, go home, and have a glass of wine.

She didn’t expect to fight over a cab with some pompous British tourist.

Neither of them expected another man to jump in their cab.

Or to be involved in a gun fight.

Or a car chase through the streets of Paris.

Or for the man to die.

But they’re thrust together when the mob demands they returnwhat the dead man stole.

Will Piers and Sidney work together?

Will they find what he had stolen?

Will they stay alive?

And will they do the last thing they expected?

Will they fall in love?

Beth’s Review:

Paris Love Match by Nigel Blackwell takes two strangers on a wild caper through the streets of Paris to find a stolen item. While they are being chased by the mob and an angry dictator, they learn they must trust and rely on each other to stay alive.

Even with the grave threat to their safety, the witty banter between Sidney and Piers had me laughing out loud. I really want to tell you my favorite line but I don’t want to spoil it for you when you get to that part but I will say it has to do with a ringing cellphone.

The unlikely pair and the side characters of Little and Large make this a refreshingly fun, quick read.

If you are ready for some excitement, adventure and fun, run away to the streets of Paris and enjoy Paris Love Match.
